NVIDIA projects mobile SoC GPU performance to surpass Xbox 360 by 2014

NVIDIA projects mobile SoC GPU performance to surpass Xbox 360 by 2014

Granted, we hope to see a new Xbox before 2014, but if NVIDIA has its way, mobile devices will have enough graphical prowess to surpass the current generation of gaming consoles by that time. The company brought the smackdown today with a chart that combines both historical and projected data, and while we don't recall NVIDIA exiting the desktop market in 2010, it reinforces the idea that smartphones and tablets of the future may stand as thoroughly enviable gaming devices -- provided that developers are willing to create enough visuals to make these things sing.

HTC One S for T-Mobile review

Image

A couple weeks ago we got to have our Ice Cream Sandwich and eat it too, thanks to a gorgeous couple phones from HTC -- the One X and the One S. Both run Sense 4 -- a thinner, lighter version of the company's polarizing UI -- and together with the entry-level One V, represent HTC's attempt to make a comeback after a lackluster year of me-too products. The first to make its way to the US is the One S which lands on T-Mobile April 25 for $199 on contract (with a $50 rebate). We just spent a weekend with Magenta's new flagship handset. So how does it compare to the global One S? Find out after the break.

'Killer Joe' Promises To Be A Bloody Good Time

Matthew McConaughey opens up about his hit man character for MTV News' Summer Movie Preview Week.

"Killer Joe" is the type of genre film you only need to know a few key details about to be intrigued.

First, Matthew McConaughey plays a crazy contract killer. Second, the plot revolves around a desperate young man (Emile Hirsch) who plots to kill his mother with help from his family (Thomas Haden Church, Gina Gershon), who are asked to offer up their teenage daughter (Juno Temple) as a retainer to hire the hit man. Third, the film landed an NC-17 rating for all its gratuitous violence. Bonus highbrow fact: The seemingly crazy story is based on Pulitzer Prize winner Tracy Letts' award-winning play.

See what we mean about intriguing? When MTV News caught up with McConaughey recently, we asked him to set aside the film's outrageous factors for a moment in order to name a few of his character's redeemable qualities, aside from the killer-for-hire part.

"He keeps to himself until he has to go do his business. He's a very structured guy," McConaughey said. "Everyone understands, on the up-and-up, what his plan is and how he'll go through with it. It's a very clean business, and he doesn't want anyone else to know anything they shouldn't know that could implicate them. He's very, very clean and he's a very good businessman. He just happens to have a job that's kinda heinous and absurd."

The "Lincoln Lawyer" and "Magic Mike" said the fun of the film is in not knowing when to laugh or gasp — or both.

"It's a comedy, but everyone played it straight," McConaughey explained. "It wasn't a comedy where you played the joke. The situations are absurd. It's a bit of a hyper-reality, like in some good Tarantino films — very violent, at the same time it's very funny. It's the kind of late laugh that you go, 'I'm not supposed to be laughing, but I just found myself laughing, and is it OK for me to laugh at that? 'Cause I just did.' I like it."

It's Summer Movie Preview Week, and MTV News will be bringing you exclusive interviews, clips and photos for the most anticipated summer movies. Get ready to gorge on inside looks at "The Avengers," Robert Pattinson's "Bel Ami," Kristen Stewart's "Snow White," "The Amazing Spider-Man" and more!

Tips for buying real estate and homes for sale for first time home ...

Buying your first home is so exciting! It can also be frustrating and overwhelming at times. We?re here to give you some tips for buying Louisiana real estate and looking at Louisiana homes for sale. Hopefully, by following these tips and instructions, the process of buying a home will be a little less overwhelming for you.

First, think about this question, ?Are you ready??

  • Do you know what you want? Do you know how many bedrooms you need? Have you thought about square footage?
  • Do you have the money for a down payment and yearly property taxes?
  • Do you have a purchasing time frame?
  • What is absolute highest you?re able to pay?

Is your financial house in order?

  • Do you have a good credit score? Loans with little or nothing down are not readily available.
  • Are all of your bills, rent, credit cards, car payment, etc., paid in full on time? For at least one full year prior to purchasing Louisiana real estate, all your bills need to be paid in full and on time.

The next step in buying Louisiana homes for sale or Louisiana real estate is to choose a reputable, trustworthy Realtor. In the crazy world of real estate, the maze of forms, financing, inspections, marketing, pricing and negotiating, is just too much to take on yourself. It makes more sense to work with a professional real estate agent who knows the community and legalities.

The third step is to get pre-approved for a loan. BEFORE you look at Louisiana homes for sale, you need to get pre-approved for a home loan so you know what price range you can look at.

Next, look at homes! After you have your finances in order, have a realtor, and have been pre-approved for a home loan, you can finally start looking at homes to buy! This is the fun part!

  • Know what you are looking for ? bedrooms, bathrooms, garage space, kitchen space
  • Choose your neighborhoods wisely ? schools, parks, neighbors
  • Is there access to the businesses you use the most ? doctor?s, work, transit, shopping

After you have chosen your new home, you realtor will help you make an offer on the house. Once an offer is received and closing costs are decided on, you will have to get home owners insurance. Talk to your insurance agent about how much and what type of homeowner?s insurance you?ll need. Will you need flood insurance and fire insurance as well?

The final step in home buying is to enjoy your new home! Make it yours. And make sure you have lots of help moving in!
